    A.F. – “
**Paragraph one:**  How do you envision using the lessons learned from your change project as a baccalaureate-prepared nurse?

As a baccalaureate-prepared nurse, I envision using what I've learned from my change project to enhance both my current and future nursing practice. I am now more prepared to research evidence-based practices and apply them to practice. I now understand the importance of having evidence to back up any proposed improvements or changes in client care as well as the amount of detail that goes into this. Prior to the change project, I didn't give much thought to the work that accompanies changes in policy or nursing practice. However, I now understand that it takes an interdisciplinary team to execute such changes and make them successful. Moving forward, I intend to recognize a problem and search for a solution utilizing what I've learned about quantitative and systematic reviews as well as interdisciplinary teams and cost analysis.

**Paragraph two:** Examine the following program outcomes. Select one and reflect on how your learning in the course assisted in helping to achieve that outcome.

    ·
**PO 5: Demonstrates responsibility for continued personal and professional development through enrollment in graduate education, continuing education degree programs, professional reading and participation in professional organizations and community service.**

This course helped me to develop both personally and professionally by teaching me the importance of research and utilizing scholarly articles and journals to locate supporting information. It has shown me the benefit of participation in professional organizations and has encouraged me to join committees within my nursing unit. Ultimately, it is my responsibility to grow and develop both personally and professionally.

**Paragraph three:**  Examine the following competencies from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Essentials. Select one and reflect on how the course assisted in achieving that competency.

    ·
**5.1: Apply quality improvement principles in care delivery.**

This course taught me the importance of identifying a problem and finding a solution that is backed by evidence-based practice. The change project helped me to understand how to take the solution and apply it to nursing practice in a realistic way. This course highlighted the process of implementing improvements in care delivery to clients through identifying an interdisciplinary team and performing a cost analysis, two things that are essential in order to implement a change in nursing practice in the real world.”

The following scenario should be used to answer questions 13-15:

Breeze Outdoors sells outdoor gear to adventure enthusiasts. They have a flexible advertising budget for the week, which they want to allocate across four media channels: sponsored podcasts, magazine ads, billboards, and influencer partnerships. The company has a priority to ensure that their podcast advertisements are featured at least twice per episode, but otherwise, they have given you full discretion to divide the budget as needed.  The podcasts attract 30,000 dedicated listeners per episode and cost $3,000 per airing. The company also wants the ads to run at least twice per episode, which means you can allocate the rest of the budget as you wish. Magazine ads cost $2,000 each and can be placed up to four times a month. Each ad reaches 12,000 readers. For billboards, there are two options: one in high-traffic areas, and one in suburban neighborhoods. High-traffic billboards cost $2,500 each and reach 15,000 people per placement, whereas suburban billboards cost $1,200 and reach 7,000 people each. There are available slots for high-traffic billboards six times a week, and suburban billboards can be placed up to ten times a week. The influencer partnerships cost $1,500 each and reach 12,000 potential customers. The influencers usually post once a week, but their reach is impactful due to their large followings and high engagement rates.

    **Question 13**

How many decision variables are in the Breeze Outdoors scenario?  Define each one clearly.

    Answer:

    **Question 14**

Define the objective function if the goal is **to reach the most potential customers**.

    **Question 15**

Define the objective function if the goal is to **identify the least expensive advertising campaign.**

    **Question 16**

TireTech Inc. manufactures two types of tires: TrailBlazer SUV Tires and EcoRoll Hatchback Tires.  The company wants to maximize its profit while considering resource limitations. Each tire produced travels through three departments: production, packaging, and shipping.  Each TrailBlazer SUV tire requires 1.75 hours of production time, 1 hours of packaging time, and 0.75 hour of shipping time.  Each EcoRoll Hatchback tire requires 1.25 hours of production time, 0.5 hour of packaging time, and 0.25 hour of shipping time. TireTech Inc. has available 425 hours of production time, 200 hours of packaging time, and 125 hours of shipping time.  The profit margin per tire is $24 for the TrailBlazer and $16 for EcoRoll.

**Use the attached template to formulate and solve this as a linear programming problem.**

Answer the following questions clearly in the Excel file:

    1. How many of each product should be      produced?
    2. What is the maximum profit that can be      achieved?
    3. Do any of the departments have leftover      time? If so, how much?

    **Question 17**

Bean There, Done That! is a popular coffee shop with a single drive-thru lane where customers order and pick up their drinks. Based on previous data, it is estimated that cars arrive at a rate of 15 per hour. Each car is served in 3.5 minutes on average. Assume that arrivals follow a Poisson distribution and service times follow an exponential distribution.

Choose the appropriate spreadsheet template for this problem, update it using the information provided above, and then clearly answer each of the following questions somewhere in the spreadsheet.  When you are done, save the file and upload it back here.

    1. What percent of the time is the employee        at the drive-thru idle?
    2. What is the average number of cars in        line?
    3. What is the average time (in minutes)        each car spends waiting to reach the service window?
    4. What percent of the time are more than 1        car in the drive-thru lane?

Round all answers to 1 decimal place.

    **Question 18**

Grill & Go is a fast-casual restaurant focused on delivering hearty, grilled meals with a bold, smoky flavor profile. The menu is centered around high-quality, flame-grilled meats and fresh ingredients, aiming to provide a quick yet satisfying dining experience.  Their staff includes both full and part-time workers to meet fluctuating demand during the day. The following table presents projected need for workers at different times of the day:

There has to be at least five, but no more than nine full-time staff; all other staff work part time shifts. Each full-time employee works from 11:00am until 8:00pm (with an hour meal break from 12-1pm) , while the part-time employees work for 5 consecutive hours at a cost of $19.00 per hour. The cost of the full-time worker is $175 per day.

**Use the attached template to formulate and solve this as a linear programming problem with the goal of minimizing the total daily cost.**

Answer the following questions clearly in the Excel file:

    1. How many full-time employees should Grill      & Go keep on their staff?
    2. How many total part-time      employees should Grill & Go use?
    3. What is the minimum total daily cost?
    4. At what time does the largest number of      part time staff start their 5 hour shift?

    **Question 19**

At the start of the theater season, the box office becomes busier the day before the opening show. Patrons arrive at the box office at the rate of six every 15 minutes. Each ticket agent can assist 8 patrons every 10 minutes, and there are traditionally two ticket agents working. The theater is considering replacing the agents with an automated kiosk that can assist a patron in 1.5 minutes. Assume each ticket agent earns $22 per hour, and the kiosk costs $40 per hour. The wait time cost is $4 per hour as patrons are willing to wait.

Update the attached template using the information provided above, and then clearly answer the question below.  When you are done, save the file and upload it back here.

What is the total daily expected cost of each model if the box office is open for 10 hours each day?

**Choose any 3 of the scenarios listed below to analyze.** Each scenario is worth 25 points, so please be thorough in your responses and ensure you are meeting the requirements in the rubric.

    Scenarios:

    1. You live and work in Dubai, and provide in-home ABA services for families that are of Emirati descent. When you are in a family’s home, they offer you coffee. Typically, you would refrain from accepting anything as a “gift” as this could constitute a “dual relationship.” However, you cannot discount the cultural ramifications of doing so, as it is considered grossly offensive.

    2. Ashley is done with her hours, and presents her form (verification) to be signed by her supervisor. In thinking it over, her supervisor indicates that she just does not feel comfortable signing off and does not see Ashley as ready for independent practice.  She is sorry, but her ethics come first, and she needs to protect her own reputation and the field.  Ashley’s forms have never been deficient and she was entirely unaware of her supervisor’s concerns.

    3. You are a BCBA providing services to individuals with developmental disabilities in the state of MA. A family informs the team that they recently started using medical marijuana to manage behavior and increase attending behavior in their child. They are excited about what they saw over vacation and want to continue to use it. They have requested you to administer it mid-day while the child is in the clinic.

    4. You are a BCBA working in a clinical setting. You have a culturally diverse team with one male member in the team. One of the parents has expressed concerns about the male individual taking their female child to the bathroom.

    5. You have been subpoenaed by the court to testify about a child custody issue. You know the child well and worked with the parents for a long time. You have strong opinions about which parent was more involved, is more skilled, and is more able to provide what the child needs. It makes sense to you that you would share this information in court in the best interests of the child. You plan to provide detailed information about the parents’ relative involvement and differential skills.

For the initial post, respond to one of the following options, and label the beginning of your post indicating either Option 1 or Option 2:

    ·
**Option 1:** The main social insurance programs like Social Security, Medicare, and unemployment compensation are funded by a payroll tax on the earnings of individuals who may receive benefits. Do you think the social insurance programs are effective? How are social insurance programs affected by the socioeconomic and political forces? Explain your answers.

**Peer response – respond to this peer**

P.N. – “Government Regulations and Social Insurance Programs

    Option 1:

Effectiveness and Influences on Social Insurance Programs

Social insurance programs like Social Security, Medicare, and unemployment compensation represent critical safety nets in the United States, designed to provide financial security during vulnerable periods such as old age, disability, illness, or job loss. These programs, which are primarily funded through payroll taxes, have unique features of success and weaknesses in terms of their impact. They occur within multifaceted sociopolitical and socioeconomic contexts that constantly define the nature and performance of the programs. Regarding effectiveness, it is crucial to note that the program succeeded in lowering poverty rates among elderly Americans since Social Security’s implementation in 1935. Before Social Security was introduced, about one-third of older people were in poverty, but today this rate is below 10%. This program offers secure monthly funds to over 65 million people in America, such as retired citizens, disabled employees, and dependents of deceased employees (Greenberg & Page, 2018). It ensures that those receiving such allowances are financially stable and can comfortably make ends meet, thus boosting economic progress.

Like Medicaid, Medicare has also improved the availability of health care to the elderly in America since 1965, currently serving 64 million citizens. Research has indicated that Medicare beneficiaries have been healthier and financially shielded than non-Medicare beneficiaries without health insurance. The program has lowered the skyrocketing Medicare expenses for healthcare and enabled senior citizens to get all the medical care they require. Furthermore, Medicare has also embarked on payment reforms that have shaped the rest of the health care sector.

Unemployment benefits offer state-funded monetary support for a particular time before the affected person secures employment elsewhere. In the 2008 financial crisis and the recent COVID-19 pandemic, generous unemployment benefits helped support consumer spending and soften further economic contractions. A study has shown that unemployment benefits decrease poverty and residential insecurity during an economic downturn.

However, these programs have certain drawbacks that hamper their functions. It is important to note that social security replacement rates, the proportion of income replaced upon retirement, are considerably lower than in other developed countries. Medicare has significant gaps, especially in long-term care and dental services, meaning that most older adults have to pay for these services out of pocket. Unemployment insurance remains uniform across the states, as some provide rather limited benefits for short times only, which does not offer sufficient funds for individuals when they lose their jobs.

Next, considering the impact of socioeconomic factors, it is evident that demographic changes significantly affect these programs. Due to this, Social Security and Medicare have faced funding difficulties mainly because the ratio of workers to beneficiaries is diminishing due to the aging population. While 1950 there were about 16 workers for each retiree under the Social Security system, this figure currently stands at about 2.8. This demographic reality leads to financial burdens that can only be addressed by increased taxes, decreased benefits, or structural changes.

The level of economic development also influences program performance. Lower lifetime earners get a higher percentage of their contributions from Social Security benefits, making it also progressive. However, more wage inequality implies that earnings revenues surpass the Social Security tax threshold, thus threatening the program's funding. Health care costs have also affected Medicare by increasing its proportion of the federal budget and putting the program’s solvency at risk unless it undergoes structural changes.

This is why the political environment of social insurance programs is best defined by tension between two divergent political philosophies. On the one hand, conservatism entails a focus on individualism, free markets, and financial soundness, whereas liberalism gives priority to the collective, health insurance for all, and sufficient benefits. These two views make it hard for any broad reforms to be implemented since the political environment is always fragmented.

Additionally, the politics of interest groups significantly impact these programs. Decision makers in Congress and the White House are keenly aware that senior groups like AARP can muster a formidable army that can defend Social Security and Medicare benefits with equal enthusiasm. Likewise, healthcare providers, insurance companies, and pharmaceutical producers pressure Medicare, influencing policies that favor their side. These stakeholders are always against any change that may lower their gains or cash reliefs and thus form policy barriers.

To sum up, the social insurance programs in America provide millions of people with essential support and, at the same time, experience numerous difficulties in efficiency and financial stability. Increased demographic rates, economic circumstances, and political choices facilitate the student’s actual future. Meeting the protective roles of the programs while maintaining fiscal responsibility will require reforms that are not influenced by partisanship and address both the emergency and the structural issues.”
