    Assignment Prompt & Instructions

    Description:

Design a responsive web page with three sections: a bio section, a hobbies section, and a contact me

section. All these sections must be implemented in one page. The page must be responsive for two

states. First, for standard screens, and second, for cell phone screens whose screen width is less than

    450 pixels.

In the first design, you should have a fixed left-side menu, which expands from the top to the bottom of

the viewport and remains there all the time. On top of the menu, you must put your profile picture, then

three buttons that are actually three links, one for each section. Whenever you click on one of these

links, it must navigate to the corresponding section on the page.

On cell phones, the menu must be on top of the page, and the content must be shown underneath the

menu. In this state, the menu is sticky. That means the menu remains at the top whenever you scroll the

page. Again, the corresponding section must be shown when you click these buttons. In this case, the

content might be shown underneath of the menu. This problem can be solved but not with the stuff that

you have learned. So, you do not need to fix this problem.

About the content of each section, you should implement at least something similar to mine, but feel

    free to add more content.

Check the video for more detail at https://youtu.be/8YGYQ3jVNDI.

    To get credit:

To earn credit, your grade will be based on the following criteria:

 Making the page responsive (20%).

 Implementing the menu for each state (30%).

 Ensuring your page is visually appealing (20%).

 The content of the page, including images, text, links, lists, etc (25%).

     On time submission (10%)

Yes, it sums up 105%. The extra 5% is a bonus. ????

    To Submit:

Zip all the files and upload the zip file  before the deadline. You only must upload one ZIP file

containing all the images, HTML, and CSS files, nothing more, nothing less. Make sure that you include

the images in your zip file.

    Note

 Do NOT go beyond the course materials. If you use something that we have not talked about yet,

you will lose the credit of the assignment.

 You may need to add some margin to the target of menu options in Mobile view. In that case, you

may need to add the following CSS rule to your Mobile View CSS rules.

    Explanation

    What is :target?

The :target pseudo-class selects an HTML element that matches the current URL fragment identifier (the

part of the URL that comes after the # symbol).

    For example, if you have:

    <h2 id="section1">Section 1</h2>

    <a href="#section1">Go to Section 1</a>

When you click the link, the URL becomes yourpage.html#section1, and the <h2> element with

    id="section1" becomes the :target.

    What is scroll-margin-top?

This property sets a top margin used when scrolling an element into view (e.g., via anchor link

navigation like #section1). If a fixed header is covering the top of your content when jumping to a

    section, scroll-margin-top is a solution.

    What This Rule Does

When you navigate to an element via an anchor (#id), this rule adds 200px of space above that target

element during scrolling. So, the element won’t be flush with the top of the page — it will appear 200px

lower (leaving room, for example, for a sticky header). Change 200px to the height of your own menu.

    Why Use It?

    It's helpful when:

    – You have a fixed/sticky header

    – You want to avoid the header overlapping your anchor target

    – You want to control scroll behavior for better UX

only use syntax and code types found in the zip  file

create another word document or pdf where you cite where i nthe document you pdfs in the zip you got your code

    **Break-Even Analysis**

You want to update your car with a navigation system. Adding this feature requires a flat fee of $500, and the service provider requires monthly charges of $20. In your business, as the owner, you estimate that this device can save time and money, about $35 per month. You plan to keep the car for another 3 years.

    1. Calculate the break-even point for the device in months.

    2. Based on your calculation, would you have the system installed in your car? Why, or why not?

    3. Discuss with your fellow students how and why similar break-even analysis may be applicable in health care organizations.

    **_Example Answer:_**

The navigation system costs $500 for initial installation and there will be monthly charges of $20 with a monthly savings of $35. We plan to keep the car for 36 months so we need to subtract $20 from $35 and that gives us $15. We must subtract the $20 from the savings of $35 because this is the monthly expense. After we get the remaining $15, we need to divide $500 (the initial cost) by $15. That will equal a little over 33. The number 33 indicates the number of months that it will take to break-even with this purchase. That means there will be about two months of gain by installing the navigation system.

Based on my calculations, I would not install the navigation system. I do not think it is worth it to have a net gain of only two months. However, I wouldn’t disagree with someone if they said they do think it is worth it. It is not a loss of profits, and you can most likely ask a higher price for the vehicle when it comes time to sell. To me, I personally do not feel as though it is worth it, but that is mainly because I do not like to spend money; especially with a small net gain.

This system could be used for numerous items in health care. About ten years ago a dental office made the switch to using digital radiographs. This was a huge investment to make due to needing all new equipment. They were currently using the software it needed to take the radiographs, so they did not need to spend money on that. However, they needed to buy three intra-oral sensors. Each sensor is about $10,000 each. On top of the sensors, they wanted a digital panoramic machine as well, and that costs roughly $150,000. Most dental offices have been using digital radiographs for years and they are more diagnostic, less radiation is used, and they are reusable. So, by getting these we could eliminate our processing machine that was used, the chemicals it takes to fill up the machine, no longer buy films for each patient, and benefit the patient from a health standpoint. The dental office could use the break-even analysis to see if it is worth it to make such a large purchase. They could determine how many years it would take to break even if they made this purchase.

Project 1: Explore IaaS and PaaS Services in Microsoft Azure
Step 2: BallotOnline PoC in Azure: Provision and Prepare Web Server Virtual Machine

The BallotOnline management has asked you to build an environment as a proof of concept on Microsoft Azure cloud to migrate the BallotOnline web service. This environment will consist of
[virtual servers](https://leocontent.umgc.edu/content/scor/uncurated/cca/2218-cca625/learning-topic-list/virtual-servers.html?ou=1275396) or virtual machines made up of a group of instances that will be used to serve out the BallotOnline website.

In Step 2 of our Azure exploration project you will deploy a
[virtual machine in Azure](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-machines/) and equip it with all installs needed to serve the BallotOnline web page.

You will configure VM with NGIX, a widely used open-source web server, and install the BallotOnline website data.

The webmaster of the BallotOnline website has provided you with the files to migrate to Azure. The files are compressed in a zip file and can be accessed
    [here](https://leocontent.umgc.edu/content/dam/course-content/tgs/cca/cca-625/document/website.zip?ou=1275396).

Finally, you will perform a test to ensure that the new web services are available.

After the basic infrastructure is provisioned, in the next project step you will configure your deployment to provide its web services in an auto-scaled and load-balanced environment.

    **Take Action**

Complete the Provision and Prepare Web Server VM lab following the
    [lab guide](https://leocontent.umgc.edu/content/umuc/tgs/ccs/ccs670/2252/course-resource-list/project-lab-guides/project-1/step-2—-ballotonline-poc-in-azure.html?ou=1275396).

As you build out this environment, you will capture your progress with screenshots as indicated in the lab instructions.

Lab results should include the following items:

    · Screenshots of your progress in completing the labs (refer to lab instructions)

    · URL to your test migration website

    · Brief summary of your progress in completing the lab

Submit your work using the assignment dropbox below. In the next step, you will test your work.

    **Take Action**

Submit your assignment to your instructor for review and feedback.

Follow these steps to access the assignment:

    · Click My Tools in the top navigation bar.

    · Click Assignments.

    · Select the relevant assignment.

Project 1: Explore IaaS and PaaS Services in Microsoft Azure
Step 3: BallotOnline PoC in Azure: Create Azure VM Scale Set with Load Balancer

In the previous step, you provisioned an Azure VM and configured it to support BallotOnline's website.

Now, you will create a Virtual Machine image based on your server, and use it to create and configure
[Azure Scale Set](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-machine-scale-sets/overview) – a service allowing for auto-scaling multiple VMs based on a machine image. While provisioning your scale set, you will automatically associate it with a load balancer, to distribute website requests among VMs in the scale set.

As in the previous step, you will use the Azure web portal to provision and configure your resources. Manual creation of these resources illustrates the PaaS-level services in Microsoft Azure cloud.

    **Take Action**

Complete the Deploy Scale Set and Load Balancer lab by following the
    [lab guide](https://leocontent.umgc.edu/content/umuc/tgs/ccs/ccs670/2252/course-resource-list/project-lab-guides/project-1/step-3—ballotonline-poc-in-azure.html?ou=1275396).

As you perform your test, you will capture your progress with screenshots as indicated in the lab instructions.

Lab results should include the following items:

    · Screenshots of your progress in completing the labs (refer to lab instructions)

    · Demonstration of accessing the BallotOnline web page via the scale set URL.

    · Brief summary of your progress in completing the lab

    **Take Action**

Submit your assignment to your instructor for review and feedback.

Follow these steps to access the assignment:

    · Click My Tools in the top navigation bar.

    · Click Assignments.

    · Select the relevant assignment.

Project 1: Explore IaaS and PaaS Services in Microsoft Azure
Step 4: BallotOnline PoC in Azure: Deploy Azure PaaS Web Application

In the previous step, you implemented the BallotOnline PoC deployment using IaaS service set of Azure.

In this step, you will explore and use the PaaS-level Azure service –
    [Azure Web App Service](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/app-service).

It enables you, among other things, to build and host web apps in the programming language of your choice without managing infrastructure.

    You will also use
[Azure CLI](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cli/azure/what-is-azure-cli) to provision your Web app and associated resources.

    **Take Action**

Complete the BallotOnline PoC in Azure: Create Azure PaaS Web Application lab by following the
    [lab guide](https://leocontent.umgc.edu/content/umuc/tgs/ccs/ccs670/2252/course-resource-list/project-lab-guides/project-1/step-4—ballotonline-poc-in-azure.html?ou=1275396).

As you perform your test, you will capture your progress with screenshots as indicated in the lab instructions.

Project 1: Explore IaaS and PaaS Services in Microsoft Azure
Step 5: Write Explore Microsoft Azure Final Technical Report

In the previous project steps, you explored and used Azure IaaS and PaaS services to migration of BallotOnline's web services to Azure. Now, you will document the lessons learned during the buildout of the Azure environments and your test migration in your final report to BallotOnline management.

Here are some areas to consider:

    · What challenges did you encounter while building out the Azure environment?

    · Did you encounter any errors while building out the Azure environment? If so, elaborate.

In this step, you will explore and use the PaaS-level Azure service –
    [Azure Web App Service](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/app-service).

It enables you, among other things, to build and host web apps in the programming language of your choice without managing infrastructure.

    You will also use
[Azure CLI](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cli/azure/what-is-azure-cli) to provision your Web app and associated resources.

    **Take Action**

Complete the BallotOnline PoC in Azure: Create Azure PaaS Web Application lab by following the
    [lab guide](https://leocontent.umgc.edu/content/umuc/tgs/ccs/ccs670/2252/course-resource-list/project-lab-guides/project-1/step-4—ballotonline-poc-in-azure.html?ou=1275396).
