    **Initial post**

**Step 1**: Reflect on your learning experience in this course. Answer all questions/criteria below with explanations and detail. No scholarly sources are required.

    ·
**Paragraph 1**: How do you envision using the concepts learned in this course in your future nursing practice as a baccalaureate-prepared nurse?
**This is for a transcultural nursing class.**

    ·
**Paragraph 2**: Examine the following program outcomes. Select one and reflect on how your learning in the course assisted in helping to achieve that outcome.

    · PO 4: Integrates clinical judgment in professional decision making and implementation of the nursing process.

    ·
**Paragraph 3**: Examine the following competencies from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Essentials. Select one and reflect on how the course assisted in achieving that competency.

    · 9.5c Demonstrate sensitivity to the values of others.

**Peer response – RESPOND TO THIS PEER**

K.H. – “There are multiple ways that I envision using the concepts learned in this course in my future nursing practice as a baccalaureate-prepared nurse. I will ensure that I consider the beliefs and cultural values of clients. Showing respect and compassion is essential to build trust and foster a supportive patient care. These principles will allow me to learn about different cultural backgrounds, practices, and values to better understand and meet the needs of the patient. Showing empathy provides patient-centered care that addresses not only their medical needs but also their emotional and cultural concerns.

Program outcome three states the importance of communicating effectively with the patient population and other healthcare providers in managing the healthcare of individuals, families, aggregates, and communities. Being bilingual has also enabled me to better communicate and understand patients from Spanish-speaking cultures. This allows me to share medical information clearly and understand the cultural aspects that influence their health experiences and views. It is important to also be mindful of verbal and nonverbal communication with diverse cultures. This course has taught me the importance of effective communication. It is essential to use resources that help communicate in the client’s preferred language and to respect cultural differences in how people communicate (Chamberlain University, 2025). Nurses should recognize the factors that affect healthcare interactions and address them properly because cultural elements can greatly influence communication, including assessments and nursing care (Chamberlain University, 2025). This course has taught me that following this outcome will improve my communication with both patients and other healthcare providers.

The competency 9.5c from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Essentials states that nurses achieve this competency by demonstrating sensitivity to the values of others. This course has helped me develop verbal and nonverbal communication skills by exposing me to diverse cultures and their practices. It has also helped me connect better with patients from diverse backgrounds by providing assessment strategies that consider their cultural beliefs and preferences. This leads to more effective and respectful communication in healthcare. Being bilingual in English and Spanish, as well as familiar with Hispanic culture, has greatly benefited my nursing career. I have been able to communicate effectively with the Spanish-speaking community regarding their healthcare needs during their hospital stays.”

    #1

In this course wrap-up discussion, please reflect on your experience in the course and address the following items:

    – Identify one of your major takeaways from this course.
    – What aspects of the course helped you achieve this?
    – Choose one of the course student learning outcomes (CSLO). Please explain how you could apply your chosen learning outcome to your practice and/or have achieved this outcome having participated in this class.
    – How will you apply this knowledge to your practice and career?

This course has been a truly enriching experience, and as I reflect on it, several key aspects stand out. For the course student learning outcome, “Develop your role as a nurse advocate that can impact legislative development (CSLO 4)”, I feel this course has significantly empowered me. While directly impacting legislative development might seem like a distant goal early in one's career, this course has provided me with the foundational understanding and the impetus to actively engage in advocacy. I now recognize that nurses have a powerful voice and a crucial role to play in shaping healthcare policy. I can apply this learning outcome in several ways. On a smaller scale, I can advocate for my patients within the healthcare system by understanding their rights, ensuring their voices are heard, and navigating complex bureaucratic processes. Furthermore, I can engage in professional organizations and participate in initiatives aimed at influencing local and state-level policies related to patient care, working conditions, and public health. This course has instilled in me the importance of staying informed about legislative issues affecting healthcare and the various avenues through which nurses can make their voices heard, whether it's through contacting legislators, participating in grassroots efforts, or contributing to policy briefs. Looking ahead, I believe the knowledge gained in this course will be invaluable in my practice and career. The development of my advocacy skills will empower me to be a more effective voice for my patients and the nursing profession. As I grow in my career, I envision myself becoming increasingly involved in advocacy efforts, contributing to the development of policies that promote patient well-being and advance the practice of nursing. This course has laid a strong foundation for me to become a more knowledgeable and impactful nurse.

    Module 6 Discussion

    Case Study: C.Z.

    Submission Instructions:

    • Your initial post should be at least 500 words, formatted and cited in current APA
style with support from at least 2 academic sources.  Your initial post is worth 8
    points.

    • You should respond to at least two of your peers by extending, refuting/
correcting, or adding additional nuance to their posts. Your reply posts are worth
2 points (1 point per response.)

    • All replies must be constructive and use literature where possible.

Purpose: Analyze and apply critical thinking skills in the psychopathology of mental
health patients and provide treatment and health promotion while applying
    evidence-based research.

Scenario: C.Z. is a 20-year-old Caucasian male who is in his second year of college.
He is seeking treatment due to persistent fears that campus security and
the local police are tracking and surveilling him. He cites occasional lags in
his internet speed as evidence that surveillance devices are interfering with
his electronics. His intense anxiety about this has begun getting in the way
of his ability to complete schoolwork, and his friends are concerned – he
says they have told him, “you’re not making sense.”

C.Z. occasionally laughs abruptly and inappropriately and sometimes stops
speaking mid-sentence, looking off in the distance as though he sees or
hears something. He expresses concern about electronics in the room
(phone, computer) potentially being monitored and asks repeatedly about
patient confidentiality, stating that he wants to be sure the police won’t be
informed about his treatment. His beliefs are fixed, and if they are
    challenged, his tone becomes hostile.

    Question
    s:

Remember to answer these questions from your textbooks and NP
guidelines. At all times, explain your answers.

    1. Discuss the etiology, course, and the structural/functional
    abnormalities of schizophrenia.

    2. Discuss the evidence-based pharmacological and
nonpharmacological treatment for this patient using the US Clinical
    Guidelines.

    Module 6 Discussion

    A. Of which biological variations among Korean Americans should the nurse be
    aware?

    B. Describe how stereotyping Puerto Ricans as similar to other Hispanic Americans
can lead the nurse to errors in patient care.

    C. Describe the geographical location of Jordan, and indicate how this region of
the world and the political turmoil experienced by Jordanians may have a
profound political impact on the health and well-being of recently immigrated
    Jordanian Americans.

    Submission Instructions:

    • Your initial post should be at least 500 words, formatted, and cited in current
APA style with support from at least 2 academic sources.  Your initial post is
    worth 8 points.

    • You should respond to at least two of your peers by extending, refuting/
correcting, or adding additional nuance to their posts. Your reply posts are worth
2 points (1 point per response.)

    • Incorporate a minimum of 2 current (published within the last five years)
scholarly journal articles or primary legal sources (statutes, court opinions) within
your work. Journal articles should be referenced according to the current APA
