    **Guidelines for Paper**

    **Overview**

In this course you will acquire knowledge about multiple topics relevant to managers and HR employees.  You will apply your learning by presenting an overall HR plan for an organization that you have chosen.  This is your opportunity to demonstrate your ability to consider and recommend actions to management on how the organization can be most competitive in the global environment by utilizing the organization’s best assets, its human capital.

    **Development of the Plan**

You can research an organization, or you can use an organization with which you are familiar.  The end product is a paper that presents a comprehensive HR plan for the organization that includes the concepts that you have learned from the text and outside resources.  You must include citations in text and a reference page (APA format).

    **Parameters for the organization**

You should describe the organization with which you will be associated. You will need to provide some level of detail of your organization.  Use your general knowledge, coursework, and research to accomplish this.

Even though you are required to provide general organizational details, your primary function is human resources.  Analyze based on this premise.

Assume that a core group of managers and employees is already in place.

Your organization can produce a product or service.

**Requirements for the Overview of the organization**

    – Description of what the organization does and organizational structure.  Be specific.  You may include an organizational chart.
    – How does the organization operate?  How are tasks/work projects accomplished?
    – Is the organization domestic or international?  Locations?
    – Who are the competitors?
    – What are the factors that you believe are critical to success in this organization?
    – What is the culture like?
    – How is information communicated?
    – Why would people want to work for this organization?

**HR Topics that must be addressed in the paper**

    **Recruitment and Selection**

Include the job description and interview questions that you develop in your appendix.  A discussion and analysis of why and how you developed these tools should be included in the paper.  Best practices based on the research and your text should be discussed.

    **Compensation and Benefits**

Include the compensation package that you develop in your appendix.  A discussion and analysis of why and how you developed these tools should be included in the paper. Best practices based on the research and your text should be discussed.

    **Performance Management**

Include the performance appraisal and management system that you develop in your appendix.  A discussion and analysis of why and how you developed these tools should be included in the paper.  Best practices based on the research and your text should be discussed.

    **Training Program**

Include the training program overview that you develop in your appendix.  A discussion and analysis of why and how you developed these tools should be included in the paper.  Best practices based on the research and your text should be discussed.

**Other topics of interest for your plan**

This is a free topic area.  You can discuss diversity, succession planning, retention, or any topic that we have studied in the course that pertains to your plan.

    **Research**

The student should research current writings relevant to the HRM area involved to determine what kinds of causes and solutions have been applied to similar situations. Refer to peer reviewed journal articles and integrate these studies into the paper. Please use SWU library databases to search for these articles.

    **Requirements**

The data collected will be integrated into a comprehensive final report paper (which you should offer to share with the organization you analyzed), complete with an executive summary, your findings, analyses, action plan/ recommendation and any supporting data or appendices.

This report should be APA formatted, 12-15 pages in length, exclusive of appendices, table of contents, and cover sheet. The report must contain at least 8 quality reference articles – these must be appropriately cited and placed in a references page per APA requirements.

    Task

In this assessment you will identify three key ‘Moments of Truth’ that have affected your sense of

leadership (either positively or negatively) and create one A3 sized poster/infographic.

You are required to link the ‘Moments of Truth’ to the theoretical perspectives contained in the

topics covered in this subject as a minimum. You may also explore other relevant associations.

Refer to the Instructions for details on how to complete this task.

    Context
Leadership is a journey of self-discovery and raised self-awareness. In this assessment you will reflect upon

moments in your leadership journey that have shaped your sense of yourself as a leader. Moments of

Truth are the various points throughout your leadership journey where you discovered or learned

something about yourself and your self-image as a leader. These Moments of Truth may be positive or

negative. The Moments of Truth may be an event, an experience, and/or a person who influenced your

sense of yourself and who you are and how you behave as a leader.

    MGT601_Assessment 2_Brief Page 2 of 8

A ‘moment of truth’ is a decisive moment in your life when an important realisation is made or a

critical choice is taken. It is a time when, responding to circumstances, you make a decision that

defines your character and gives you insights about your authentic values. These Moments of Truth in

your leadership journey may have formed or changed your impression of how you see yourself as a

    leader.

A ‘moment of truth’ represents a turning point that helps to define who you are and shapes the path you

take. Awareness of these times gives you important insights into who you are and the values that guide

    your actions.

An infographic is a way of representing information in a graphic format. It provides a means by which the

relationship between context, events, theoretical perspectives and critical insights can be explored and

mapped. There are a number of different approaches that can be adopted in developing your infographic.

For example, a mind map is a visual tool used to organise and structure information with the main idea or

topic at the centre of the diagram and subtopics radiating out from it. When constructing a mind map,

colours, images and other visual elements can be used to represent different types of information.

Note: The Dynamic Leadership philosophy of this subject is you do not have to be in a position of

authority to be a leader. Therefore, it is important for you reflect upon earlier ‘Moments of Truth’ in

your leadership journey before your first work experiences.

    Instructions
You will create one (1) A3-sized infographic to reflect on your leadership past and demonstrate your

understanding of how key events have contributed to the leadership behaviours you demonstrate today.

Often, you find your leadership orientation is formed well before you enter the workplace, so reflect back

to your early, formative years and identify circumstances and situations that resulted in you making a

decision that you may have later come to realise is indicative of your true character and values. You will

likely discover many times when you encounter ‘Moments of Truth’.

To complete this assessment task, you should:

    1) Reflect upon Moments of Truth in your leadership journey. Identify 3 Moments of Truth to be

    included in this assessment task.

    2) Briefly describe what was happening in that moment.

    3) Further reflection and critical thinking to consider and link the Moments of Truth to what you

have learned about leaders and leadership in this subject.

    4) Explore other conceptual links and relationships between the 3 Moments of Truth.

    MGT601_Assessment 2_Brief Page 3 of 8

    5) Communicate your three (3) ‘moments of truth’ in an A3-sized poster/ infographic* – this can be a
mind map, rich picture or any other visual representation.

Ensure your Poster/ Infographic clearly conveys the connection of these Moments of Truth and to

relevant theories, frameworks and concept covered in this subject.

    6) Ensure you include in-text references on your Poster/infographic to acknowledge the source of

    your information in your infographic.

    7) Create a reference list using APA7 to provide the full bibliographical information for your in-text

    references.

    8) Submit ONE A3 poster/ infographic complete with intext references as PDF. Submit a reference

list using APA7 as a separate WORD document.

*Creating a poster/ infographic. There are a number of tools and templates you may use to create

your infographic. Or you can draw your poster/ infographic freehand. Choose the best one for you.

Whichever tool you use, your A3 poster/ infographic must be visually engaging, easy to read and

    include less words, more pictures.

    Referencing

It is essential that you use current APA style for citing and referencing the sources that you use. Please see
more information on citing and referencing guidelines on the Academic Success webpage.

You must include a list of specific references that you have used in researching your infographic. For this

assessment, the minimum number of references is not specified. However, the number and quality of your

references must reflect meaningful engagement with, and understanding of, the theories, concepts and

frameworks covered in this modules and topics of this subject.

The sources included in your reference list need to have actually been consulted in the drafting of the

assignment and must contain the information attributed to them.

It is essential that you use APA7 style for citing and referencing research. Failure to do so may

impact on the grade you receive for your assessment. Please see more information on referencing in the

Academic Skills Web Site. (n.d.) https://library.torrens.edu.au/academicskills/home

    Introduction

Healthcare institutions face medication errors as a significant issue because they generate

unfavorable patient results and more extended hospital stays while increasing medical expenses.

The Institute of Medicine (2020) reveals that United States healthcare providers encounter

medication errors with patients at a rate of 1.5 million every year, thus demonstrating the need

for evidence-based interventions. This capstone project aims to lower medication errors in acute

care facilities by introducing educational training for nursing professionals. Nurses participating

in the project will enhance their skills and follow best practices for medication administration to

build better patient safety and healthcare outcomes. This paper details this health initiative's

objectives, strategies, and background examination. This project follows the PICOT question to

examine medication error changes in registered nurses (P) performing acute medical care when

implementing education about medication administration (I) relative to standard protocols (C)

    during six months (T).

    Objectives

Through an educational intervention and targeted strategy, this project will decrease

medication errors by 40% within six months among registered nurses in acute care environments.

The program aims to create a specific medication safety training, which must achieve a 90%

success rate in competency tests administered after the training sessions. A double-check

verification system for high-risk medications will be integrated into the nursing practice while

maintaining at least 95% compliance during implementation. This project seeks to heighten

eMAR system utilization by establishing proficiency among nurses who will use eMAR to stop

documentation errors (Koyama et al., 2020). The SMART objectives delivered measurable

outcomes by defining clear goals that lead to the best patient safety and quality improvement

    standards.

    Strategies

The organization will use two essential methods to lower medication errors. The initial

strategy involves developing systematic education and training that stands critically important

for medication safety education. The programs use simulation, competencies testing, and

interactive classroom training to boost nurses' understanding and clinical competence.

Simulation-based education demonstrates its effectiveness in both improving knowledge

retention and practical medication safety skills of nurses in actual practice, according to Smith et

al. (2021). Thorough training activities enable nurses to access ongoing information about

current guidelines and error-prevention methods, minimizing medication errors.

The second strategy is A double-check verification system focusing on high-risk

medications. Two registered nurses must independently check medication information before

giving any medication to patients. Double-check verification formalized at healthcare institutions

has lowered medication errors because nurses confirm drug information before patient delivery

(Koyama et al., 2020). Healthcare institutions using this practice have demonstrated better

patient security measures and better medication administration practice adherence. A set of

audits and feedback systems will establish accountability through which compliance can be

    reinforced for continuous improvement.

Nurses can reduce transcription errors and improve documentation accuracy by

implementing electronic medication administration record (eMAR) systems that warn healthcare

professionals about drug complications, wrong dosage, and missed medication incidents

(Koyama et al., 2020). The implementation of eMAR will integrate into nursing workflows after

    4

employees receive training and periodic assessments of system effectiveness to minimize

medication errors. Combining these strategies will develop a safer medication administration

system to enhance patient outcomes and minimize healthcare-associated risks.

    Background

Healthcare professionals confront medication errors as a vital clinical issue that generates

harm to patients, as well as prolonged hospital stays and elevated healthcare expenses. Based on

the World Health Organization, Koyama et al. (2020) report medication errors as one of the

primary hospital-related avoidable harms affecting millions of patients yearly. Medication errors

occur mainly because healthcare staff experience heavy workload pressures and face

interruptions during drug administration tasks. At the same time, they possess inadequate

training in medical technology and poor skill at technology-enabled accuracy improvement.

Urgent action must be taken because patient safety is the key focus within nursing practice.

Medication administration constitutes a key source of errors at institutions because it is

challenging. Healthcare providers experience many distractions combined with multitasking

activities due to the fast nature of nursing work, contributing to increased error rates (Kwiecień-

Jaguś et al., 2025). Furthermore, inconsistent adherence to best practices, such as proper

documentation and double-check verification, exacerbates the issue. The healthcare sector must

adopt proven methods combining educational systems with elections to reduce safety risks and

    develop secure work environment platforms.

Appropriate interventions to reduce medication errors lead to more excellent patient

protection and better healthcare management effectiveness. Medical facilities using educational

programs and technological tools decrease medication errors and generate better patient care

outcomes, according to Ude-Okeleke et al. (2021). Through nurse education and the provision of

    5

necessary tools, our targeted project aims to develop environments where medications can be

administered more safely, thus benefiting both healthcare providers and their patient populations.

    Conclusion

The identified issue receives attention through this capstone project that implements

research-based strategies to deliver better patient care outcomes. The project's defined objectives

satisfy all SMART criterion requirements for specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and

time-bound targets. The project design incorporated proven practices and research-driven

interventions into strategies to support objective achievement. Extra information in the

background section sheds complete light on underlying problem factors, underscoring why

specialized interventions must be deployed. The project executes its mission by effectively

implementing compressed frameworks that support long-term improvements of healthcare

delivery systems and patient safety protocols.

    Objectives, Strategies, and Background

This project seeks to heighten

eMAR system utilization by establishing proficiency among nurses who will use eMAR to stop

outcomes by defining clear goals that lead to the best patient safety and quality improvement

    standards.
