    [>Criminal homework help](https://www.sweetstudy.com/fields/law-criminal)

You are a juvenile justice professional who demonstrates a solid understanding of standard procedures in the juvenile versus adult criminal justice systems, as well as experience in recommending appropriate juvenile programs for intervention. You’ve been tasked to write a report advocating the balanced and restorative justice (BARJ) model and how it differs from the retributive, punitive philosophy of the criminal justice system and the traditional individual treatment and protection model of the juvenile court. This report is to be presented to the executive staff of your state’s Department of Juvenile Justice.

    ##### **Assessment Preparation**

**Review** the following figures from your textbook, _Juvenile Justice: Policies, Programs, and Practices_:

    – Figure 8.11, “Comparison of Criminal and Juvenile Court Rights Based on U.S. Supreme Court Rulings,” from Ch. 8
    – Figure 10.6, “Types of Blended Sentencing,” from Ch. 10
    – Figure 15.2, “The Balanced Approach,” and Figure 15.3, “Focus on Practice: Restorative Justice Practice, Location, and Objectives,” from Ch. 15

    ##### **Assessment Deliverable**

**Write** a 700- to 1,050-word report to the executive staff of your state’s Department of Juvenile Justice in which you address the following:

    – Identify “getting-tough” methods in response to juvenile crime that have made juvenile justice more compatible with the criminal justice system.
    – Identify what due process rights are shared by both the criminal and juvenile justice systems, and what rights are not extended to juvenile proceedings.
    – Explain the new form of disposition and sentencing known as _blended sentencing_.
    – Explain one type of blended sentencing that is processed in the jurisdiction of the juvenile court and one type of blended sentencing that is processed and tried in the criminal justice system.
    – Describe the goals of the balanced and restorative justice (BARJ) model and how its practices differ from both the traditional model of juvenile justice and the traditional model of criminal justice.

**Cite** at least 2 peer-reviewed, scholarly, or similar references and format your citations and references according to APA guidelines.

Cultural sensitivity is an important disposition for international negotiators. – What are some of the organizational consequences of      failing to foster cultural sensitivity? What are some organizational      strategies to eliminate dispute resolution and capitalize on cultural      sensitivity? How can an organization leverage international negotiation      activities to develop better cultural sensitivity across the organization?

    – How do elements of behavior, attitude, norms, and      values assist or delay the understanding of negotiation processes? How can      effective negotiators use values, attitudes or norms to their best      interest? Provide an example.

    – How is resolving disputes different from making deals?      Discuss the potential differences in negotiation perspective and process      depending upon we are resolving disputes or making deals. What are the key      challenges that negotiators face when resolving disputes? What lessons      might be learned from these challenges and applied to leadership?

The **final paragraph** (three or four sentences) of your initial post should summarize the o **ne or two key points** that you are making in your initial response.

Your posting should be the equivalent of **1 to 2 single-spaced pages** (500-1000 words) in length.

In this Case 1 you will be finding, selecting, and incorporating
_the most effective sources_ of information to support your discussion of Atlantic Shrimp’s actions as they relate to discrimination laws and regulations. Give special attention to the
    _quality_ of sources utilized.

**Exploring Equal Employment Opportunity and Discrimination**

Before starting this assignment, use the following links to familiarize yourself with relevant law:

    **Terms:** _Disparate/adverse impact_;
    _disparate/adverse treatment_

**U.S. Supreme Court Case**: Griggs vs. Duke Power Company

Begin this assignment by reading the following scenario:

Atlantic Shrimp is a major processor of fresh and frozen shrimp sold throughout the United States. Atlantic shrimp employs 301 workers at its principal processing plant. The plant has a relatively young crew with 73% of the workforce between the ages of 23 and 31. The plant is in Savannah, Georgia. Atlantic Shrimp requires a high school diploma or GED as a condition of employment for its cleaning crew. Right now, the entire cleaning crew at Atlantic Shrimp is Caucasian.

Prepare a 4- to 6-page paper, not counting the cover page, the requested appendix, and reference page. Address the following questions in your paper:

    1.
**Explain the importance of Savannah’s labor market in considering whether or not Atlantic Shrimp is in compliance with the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Discuss relevant data you find associated with Savannah’s demographics.**

    2.
**Based on your readings and research, evaluate whether Atlantic Shrimp needs to make policy changes to ensure compliance with Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.  If changes must be made in complying with the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, explain specifically what changes Atlantic Shrimp should make and why they are necessary to satisfy the requirements of each of these laws.**

    3.
**Use at least six (6) sources, at least three (3) of which should be found on your own (outside of the module readings). Provide a 1- or 2-page Appendix discussing why your non-module sources (ones found on your own) were chosen and what criteria you used to determine that they were appropriate sources for your academic paper.**

    **Information Literacy Emphasis**

As you may recall, in ETH501 (Business Ethics), Case 1, emphasis was placed on the first step to building your information literacy skills.

Now at this “reinforced” level, the MGT516 (Legal Implications in HRM) Case 1 takes information literacy a step further by working on thought processes to evaluate each source utilized.

In HRM522 (Employment & Labor Relations), Case 1, your information literacy skills will be enhanced even further.

The grading rubric for Information Literacy has been developed to measure student success in meeting the MGT516 Case 1 expectations related to information literacy. Rubrics for the other two courses are included in their respective oral communications assignments.

    **Assignment Expectations**

_Your paper will be evaluated using the criteria as stated in the Case rubric. The following is a review of the rubric criteria:_

    ·
**Assignment-Driven:** Does the paper fully address all aspects of the assignment? Is the assignment addressed accurately and precisely using sound logic? Does the paper meet minimum length requirements?

    ·
**Critical Thinking:** Does the paper demonstrate graduate-level analysis, in which information derived from multiple sources, expert opinions, and assumptions has been critically evaluated and synthesized in the formulation of a logical set of conclusions? Does the paper address the topic with sufficient depth of discussion and analysis?

    ·
**Business Writing:** Is the essay logical, well organized, and well written? Are the grammar, spelling, and vocabulary appropriate for graduate-level work? Are section headings included? Are paraphrasing and synthesis of concepts the primary means of responding, or is justification/support instead conveyed through excessive use of direct quotations?

    ·
**Effective Use of Information:** Does the submission demonstrate that the student has read, understood, and can apply the background materials for the module? If required, has the student demonstrated effective research, as evidenced by student’s use of relevant and quality (library?) sources? Do additional sources used provide strong support for conclusions drawn, and do they help in shaping the overall paper?

    ·
**Citing Sources:** Does the student demonstrate understanding of APA Style of referencing by inclusion of proper citations (for paraphrased text and direct quotations) as appropriate? Have all sources (e.g., references used from the Background page, the assignment readings, and outside research) been included, and are these properly cited? Have all sources cited in the paper been included on the References page?

    ·
**Timeliness:** Has the assignment been submitted to TLC (Trident’s learning management system) on or before the module’s due date?

Zajonc states, “Synergy can take either a physical or a mental form. The physical presence of others is often arousing, so more work is accomplished. Even ants work harder when there is more than one on the job” (Henman). In the mental sense, synergy forms when a type of collective intelligence and shared memory begins to develop as the group matures.

Now, reflect on your own experiences to explore how this concept applies in real-life group dynamics.

    · Describe a group experience where you observed a shift to synergy within your group. (Examples could include working at a human services agency, another occupation, serving on a committee, participating in a college or high school group, or even an experience with a group of friends.)

    · Describe this experience as vividly as possible, with plenty of detail and a thorough analysis of the contributions made by many group members to attaining synergy that you can recall.

    The Glass Menagerie
    Soundtrack Project

Task: You are to create the soundtrack album for a soon to be released movie version of
    The Glass Menagerie.

Basic Objectives: To collect four songs that represent, reflect, or otherwise relate to four key
passages from The Glass Menagerie. For each song, you will turn in a justification for why that
song was chosen as the backdrop to that particular passage. This justification will follow the
attached format. The lyrics (the song must have lyrics – no instrumentals) will be included at
the end of the explanation sheet. The rubrics go at the very end.

    The Glass Menagerie
    Song Justification

The following format must be followed exactly in order to receive full credit. You will retype
this format on your own using Calibri or Times New Roman font in 11-point size with single
spacing. Each justification is not to exceed 200 words.

    Track number:

    Title:

    Artist:

    Album: (include the copyright date)

    Scene: (include page numbers)

    Explanation:

The explanation is the key. Essentially write a well-written, short essay explaining the
connection between that song and the scene from the novel. Do not write a mere summary of
the scene and/or the song. Go beneath the surface of the words in the novel and the words in
the lyrics to tie them both together. Discuss themes, what is going on internally with the
characters, and/or the mood occurring within both the song and the scene and how they reflect
one another. Remember you are trying to convince someone that that song fits that scene
perfectly. On the following rubrics, fill-in the song titles and submit with the song justifications.

Student Sample: This sample is from the novel The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger. Notice
how it uses both the text and lines from the song to back up the idea that the theme of
“loneliness and alienation” is introduced early in the novel by this song. Also, notice how the
justification talks about what is going on inside the character of Holden Caulfield.

    Track number: 1

    Title: “One”

    Artist: Aimee Mann

Album: For the Love of Harry: Everybody Sings Nilsson (1995)

Scene: This would play during the opening scene of the novel as Holden walks around the campus alone
    (p. 2-5).

    Explanation:

To start the film for The Catcher in the Rye, a song that could get the soundtrack going is “One”
as sung by Aimee Mann. The song “One” could actually be used in many different scenes from the
novel. As it talks about the number one being “the loneliest number that you'll ever know,” just about
any time that Holden is by himself feeling lonely, this song would match perfectly. However, first time
we see him alone would be the perfect time to introduce this theme of loneliness.

As Holden walks toward the football game, the opening lyrics would be playing in the
background. As Holden is watching from on top of a hill above the football field, he notes that “the
whole school except me was there” (Salinger 2). This is maybe the first time he mentions that he is by
himself, something that happens throughout the book. All of this fit very well with the second stanza of
the song, especially the line “’No’ is the saddest experience you'll ever know,” because he has just been
told “no” by the school. “No” you don’t belong here, and “no” you can’t stay. This sense of not
belonging is starting to sink into Holden and we first see it in the opening scenes of him alone at a school
    full of kids his age.

    “One”

One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
Two can be as bad as one
It's the loneliest number since the number one

"No" is the saddest experience you'll ever know
Yes, it's the saddest experience you'll ever know
Because one is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
One is the loneliest number that you'll ever know

It's just no good anymore since you went away
Now I spend my time just making rhymes of yesterday

Because one is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
One is the loneliest number that you'll ever know
    One is the loneliest number
    One is the loneliest number
One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do

One is the loneliest number, much much worse than two
One is the number divided by two

    Assignment Prompt & Instructions

When assessing the validity of a self-esteem measure, it is essential to employ various approaches that ensure the instrument accurately reflects the construct of self-esteem. Validity can be broadly categorized into several types, including content validity, criterion-related validity, and construct validity (American Psychological Association, 2013). For example, content validity assesses how well the items in a measure represent the construct they aim to measure. To ensure comprehensive coverage of self-esteem, researchers could consult a panel of experts in psychology to evaluate the relevance and clarity of the items included (Haynes, Richard, & Kubany, 1995). This step is important, as self-esteem encompasses multiple dimensions, such as self-worth, confidence, and self-acceptance (Rosenberg, 1965).

Criterion-related validity involves examining how well the self-esteem measure predicts related outcomes. This could include assessing correlations with behavioral indicators of self-esteem or psychological well-being. For instance, studies have shown that self-esteem is positively correlated with mental health indicators and negatively correlated with anxiety and depression (Orth et al., 2010). Longitudinal studies can further investigate whether initial self-esteem scores forecast future well-being (Roberts & Monterosso, 2016).

Factor analysis is a method used for both exploratory and confirmatory validation of a measure's structure. This statistical technique can help demonstrate whether the items cluster in ways that align with theoretical expectations surrounding self-esteem (Thompson, 2004). Pilot testing can be done with diverse populations, allowing for the identification of potential issues in item clarity and relevance, which can help refine the measure before it reaches broader populations (DeVellis, 2016). Revisions based on this feedback can enhance the measure's validity and reliability.

When creating a self-esteem measure, it is important to follow a systematic approach to ensure validity and reliability. This starts with clearly defining self-esteem and its dimensions. Next, experts and focus groups should develop and review diverse items for clarity and cultural relevance. Feedback is essential for refinement.

After finalizing the items, conduct a pilot test with a representative sample to observe participant interactions and identify needed adjustments. Comprehensive statistical analyses are conducted to assess psychometric properties, such as reliability and validity, potentially using factor analysis and correlational studies. This process helps create a robust self-esteem measure that accurately reflects the construct and can be used reliably in various contexts. Overall, following this structured approach is essential for guaranteeing that a self-esteem measure is valid and reliable, ultimately providing meaningful insights into individuals' self-esteem levels.
